For Crystal Palace FC training Ground & Academy, refurbishing their entertainment space required a look which stood out from other grounds. Wanting a mixture of classic London styling, but with a warm interior finish to lead from the cooler exterior, a blend of ceramic tiling walkways needed to meet something that could deliver the intended feel, and be practical for a busy and adapting space.

We selected to use our own brand Signature Collection Unfinished Engineered Herringbone, offering options to finish in different degrees of warmth. The grain on the oak led itself to a natural finish, and so Pallmann Magic Oil was the right choice to make the grain and natural knotting stand out.

Fully stuck with Pallmann P5 Adhesive throughout, over a refinished subfloor using UZIN NC 151 smoothing compound and PE 360 Primer and PE 404 for damp proofing gave us the solid foundations needed. The Magic Oil finish was straightforward to apply, and dried well, leaving a fantastic natural sheen, and a practical coating which could cope with guest and furniture movements.

Supported by the Pallmann UK Team, we were also able to use this project to teach newer members of our team about wood finishing and aftercare.
